[TUT] iOS 5.1.1 Untethered JB Unified Thread Absinthe 2 (iPhone/iPod/iPad) - PINOYDEN

This thread is dedicated to bringing news regarding iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak to A4 and A5 devices and to inform PD users on the status as well as the support and release date of the said jailbreak. Feel free to ask questions or post anything related to the thread title. No spamming please.



Note: for 3GS users relying on ultrasn0w for unlock please use custom firmware 5.1.1 via redsn0w in updating your device then use absinthe 2.0.2 for the untethered jailbreak. please refer to 2nd post for preparation and unlocking.

Before jailbreaking please disable passcode and remove any PPTP and L2TP VPN settings this applies to all devices.

TUT on using Absinthe 2.0 A4/A5 devices 3nd Post



For those who are currently running a 5.1.1 tethered jailbreak on A4 devices, if you have a wifi connection you can just search on cydia "Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether" and just tap to install it and reboot your device. If it boots up normally then you already have an untethered jailbreak.

(There isn’ anything new with 2.0.2 besides support for the iPhone 4 GSM iOS 5.1.1 firmware update (build 9B208) that Apple recently released.)

A. Creating A Custom 5.1.1 Firmware Baseband Preserved For Unlock (iPhone 3GS/4 Only) Using Redsn0w



Requirements:


- Windows XP/Vista/7

- Internet Connection

- Redsn0w 0.9.14b2

- Stock iOS 5.1.1 IPSW

- Pair of Eyes and a Brain to fully understand and follow what he is reading.

- Redsn0w screenshots may vary from what you are going to use due to recent updates.


Download the following:


Redsn0w 0.9.14b2


iPhone 3GS IPSW


iPhone 4 IPSW




Instructions


1. Extract redsn0w_win_0.9.14b2.zip to a location of your choice and run redsn0w as an admin.


2. On the main window click "EXTRAS".




3. Click "CUSTOM IPSW".




4. Browse for iPhone IPSW that you downloaded specific to your device model and "OPEN" it.




5. For iPhone 3GS you will get a pop-up window just like the one on the screenshot below. Click "YES" because it won't matter if you are using an old bootrom.




6. Wait for it to finish Customizing IPSW.




7. Once it is finished you will receive a pop-up just like the one below. Please take note of the location and read the warning. Click "OK".




8. Congratulations you have successfully created a custom 5.1.1 firmware that will preserve your baseband.




B. Saving SHSH Blobs Using TinyUmbrella (All Devices A4/A5)


Requirements:


- Windows XP/Vista/7

- Internet Connection

- Java (download if you don't have it)

- TinyUmbrella

- Pair of Eyes and a Brain to fully understand and follow what he is reading.



Download TinyUmbrella 5.11.01


Alternate download



Instructions


1. Run tinyumbrella-5.11.001.exe as an admin and close any pop-up window.


2. Clicked the "ADVANCED" tab check only the box that is indicated on my screenshot below. Take note of "Save SHSH Directory" if you want to create a backup.




3. Connect your device and click your device name under "Connected Devices" and click "Save SHSH" button and wait for the process to finish.




4. Click on the "General" tab and you will see the list of saved SHSH Blobs and this is an indicator of the specific firmware that your device is capable of being downgraded into.


5. Congratulations you have successfully saved your SHSH Blobs, always keep a backup of it somewhere safe, you might need it someday.




C. Flashing Custom 5.1.1 Firmware (iPhone 3GS/4 Only)



Before flashing your custom firmware make sure to backup and sync everything to itunes unless you don't mind loosing everything. Redsn0w screenshots are of older version however process is just the same


Requirements:


- Windows XP/Vista/7

- Redsn0w 0.9.14b1 or Latest

- Custom Firmware

- Latest version of iTunes 10

- Pair of Eyes and a Brain to fully understand and follow what he is reading.


Instructions


1. Run redsn0w 0.9.14b2  as an admin


2. Click "EXTRAS" and then "Pwned DFU".




3. Follow DFU instructions


4. Once device is already on DFU mode launch iTunes and it will detect your device in recovery mode.


5. Press and HOLD the SHIFT key on your keyboard and click the "RESTORE" button.


6. Browse and open the Custom Firmware that you just created. Be careful not to choose the stock firmware.


7. Wait for it to finish. Your iPhone will reboot normally.


8. Congratulations your device is already Jailbroken Untethered.




D. Flashing Stock 5.1.1 Firmware (All Devices A4/A5)


Before flashing stock firmware make sure to backup and sync everything to itunes unless you don't mind loosing everything.


Warning: iPhone 3GS/4 users you can flash stock ipsw if your iPhone is factory unlocked. If you rely on jailbreak for unlock please follow custom firmware guide.



Requirements:


- Windows XP/Vista/7

- Latest version of iTunes

- Stock IPSW

- Pair of Eyes and a Brain to fully understand and follow what he is reading.

Instructions


1. Put your device to DFU (Although you can do it directly via shift + restore on itunes, it is much safer and error free this way)


DFU Instructions (Basahin Mabuti bago gawin)


a. Launch itunes and connect your device to the computer.(Make sure that you have the speaker on and you can hear alert sounds audibly)

b. Pindutin ang power at home button ng sabay hanggang sa mawala ang display sa screen.

c. Pagkarinig mo ng tunog mula sa PC bitawan ang power button at panatiliing nakapindot ang home button.

d. Pagkarinig mo ulit ng tunog mula sa PC pwede mo ng bitawan ang home button. Ibig sabihin na sa DFU mode na ang device mo.

2. iTunes will detect your device in recovery mode. Press and HOLD the SHIFT key on your keyboard and click the "RESTORE" button.


3. Wait for the restore process to finish.


4. After reboot Activate your device.


5. Congratulations you have successfully updated to 5.1.1


6. Proceed to 3rd Post to jailbreak your device using Absinthe 2.0.4. >>> HERE





E. Unlocking using ultrasn0w 1.2.7 After Jailbreak with Absinthe (iPhone 3GS/4 Only)


1. Launch Cydia and select the "Manage" then "Sources".


2. Tap the "repo666.ultrasn0w.com"


3. Look for "ultrasn0w 1.2.7" and tap to install.


4. Reboot or Respring if prompted.


5. Congratulations! Your device is already unlocked!






Edited: - Removed ultrasn0w fixer on "E" and added tut for ultrasn0w 1.2.7 version which is already compatible with 5.1.1, no need for fixer.
           - Updated redsn0w tut using the latest version and no more tethered jailbreak.

Note: Before proceeding with jailbreak make sure that you followed the jailbreak preparation steps here

- PC Windows XP/Vista/7/8 DP and CP

- Internet Connection

- Absinthe 2.0.4

- iTunes 10.6 or higher.

- Pair of Eyes and a Brain to fully understand and follow what he is reading.


Important Notes

- Please disable any passcode and remove any PPTP/L2TP VPN configurations.

- Screenshots may be of an older version but the process is just the same.






1. Download Absinthe 2.0.4 from the link below


2. Extract absinthe-win-2.0.4.zip to a location of your choice and run absinthe-win-2.0.4.exe as an administrator. The file will execute a batch file that would extract all the necessary files to run absinthe.


3. Open absinthe-win-2.0.4 folder and run absinthe.exe as an administrator



4. Connect your device to the computer


5. Click the Jailbreak button as shown on the screenshot above.


6. Wait for the process to complete.


7. When it's done, unlock your device and Launch Cydia and choose Developer.

8. Congratulations your device is already Jailbroken untethered!

Unfortunately, there is no word yet regarding iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS, but I'm still optimistic about it, I don't want my 3GS to be stuck on 5.0.1

These devices definitely won’t be supported.

iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom) will always be untethered and can be jailbroken via redsn0w.


Thoughts


I'm kind of hoping for i0n1c to share his exploit. But it seems like he already knows about those devices not being supported, unless I am mistaken. Check the screenie below, ano sa tingin nyo? coincedence lang ba na yung jailbreak ni pod2g ay hindi pwede? 



Then two days later he tweeted this


Sa tingin ko they both have the same exploit and I believe that pod2g tested his jailbreak on older devices first like iPod 3G and 3GS and informed i0n1c na hindi gumagana, which made i0n1c think. However he doesn't have those devices to test it with. Stefan is a great hacker and having boasted that he was the first to jailbreak the iPad 3 on the latest firmware kinda hurt his ego when he learned that a much older device is not vulnerable with the exploit. But this is just my opinion on the matter, for all we know, wala talaga siyang paki and he was just trolling around.

paano po sa akin? nagupdate na po sa itunes yung iphone 3gs (new bootrom) ko sa 5.1.1

di ko po siya magamit ngayon. ano po gagawin ko stuck up po ako sa iPhone configuration ng 5.1.1 sa iphone ko.
