Atheism and Agnostic - PINOYDEN

Hindi pa ako nakakita ng thread na ganito dito sa I made one. Although there is a thread related to atheists I strongly believe that it is another topic.

Anyway... here it goes...

Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.[2] Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.[3] Atheism is contrasted with theism,[4][5] which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists.[5][6]

The term atheism originated from the Greek ἄθεος (atheos), meaning "without god", which was applied with a negative connotation to those thought to reject the gods worshipped by the larger society. With the spread of freethought, skeptical inquiry, and subsequent increase in criticism of religion, application of the term narrowed in scope. The first individuals to identify themselves as "atheist" appeared in the 18th century.[7]

My view on this, I am an agnostic. I started being one when I noticed that many believers contradicts the teachings and the ideal presentation of what is to be a believer. At habang tumatagal, mas marami akong naiintindihan tungkol sa religion at mas lalong dumadami ang idea ko tungkol dito.

The ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus summed it up well when he wrote these ideas:
Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can and does not want to.
If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent.
If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked.
If, as they say, God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?

thus the idea of an all powerful, all loving, all knowing God can't exist.

i dont think so. you may look again at the mirror and ask your self. how do you create judgement? is it based on fact and data or just merely a gossip handed down through generations.

ang atheism ay hindi nagsasabi na walang dios..bagkus di lang kami naniniwala sa dios niyo at iba pa (get your definitions right first)

as if naman sa diyos mo lang makukuha yang morality jan..ang bansang sweden majority sa kanila atheist..yet mas mababa ang crime rate nila kumpara sa mga bansang religious (gaya ng pinas) ang japan ay isa ring atheistic country..yet napaka disiplinado ng mga tao at masunurin rin sa batas (unlike satin)..pano mo ipapaliwanag yan?

alalahanin natin na mas madaming tao ang namatay dahil sa religion 
at mas madaming pinatay na tao si god..

sabi nyo nga killing is morally right basta commited by god (or in the name of god)

mas ok kausap kasi yung mga theist na open minded..kesa sa mga fundamentalist..napakarami kasing false assumptions ng iba regarding atheism eh..

this only indicates that this person can't do good without his God.

I am not a believer but i can say that i am more aware of what is good and bad. my morality is not based on the belief that there is God. Just like what answerkey have said, there are countries where majority of the people do not believe in the existence of deities yet they can live in harmony and morality. better do your research.

Being a theist, is it part of your belief to condem those who do not believe in your god? This is how I started to question religion. Marami akong naencounter na mga believer na nangcocondem ng mga tao porket iba ang paniniwala nila sa isa't isa.

Again, living in a christian / catholic country doesn't equate to morality and goodness.
